I enjoy being alone sometimes. I love silence, but I also appreciate noise — like being alone in a crowded room. Something about being alone brings me back to center. It resets me, especially if I’m listening to a song; music really brings me back to who I am. Being by myself slows me down, and allows my mind to be still with solitude, but at the same time busy with clarity.
When you have the opportunity to go on a trip or “get away” for a long weekend, where are your favorite places to visit? My first thought had always been to hop on a plane and travel to a place as far away as possible, thinking that distance would make me feel more relaxed and that I was taking a true vacation. While I still love traveling and exploring the world, I have also discovered the joy of “escaping” in my own backyard by discovering charming small towns to spend time in and explore!
So first I need to disclose the fact that since starting this post on friendships, I’ve naturally rediscovered the song “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts. Yup, this song has been playing on repeat in my head, along with visions of our beloved characters from Friends falling onto that big comfy couch in the middle of the city. While I have never blissfully danced around a big beautiful fountain with my friends (although this is totally a life goal), we have had some pretty amazing experiences together throughout the years.
